Turin 2006

The Israeli delegation to the 2006 Winter Games in Turin included for the third time in their career the figure skating pair Galit Chait, who also carried the Israeli flag at the impressive opening ceremony in the Italian city, and Sergei Sakhnovski.

In the compulsory exercise, Chait fell, and the pair, on whom many hopes were pinned, lost the chance for a medal and finished in 8th place.

To the Turin Games, the young siblings Alexandra Zaretsky and Roman Zaretsky,  joined Chait and Sakhnovski, and for the first time, an Israeli representative in the alpine skiing competitions, in the form of Mikhail Renzin, who gave a respectable performance and almost managed to reach the Olympic final in his first Olympic Games.

2,600 athletes from 80 countries participated, competing in 7 Olympic winter sports, and trying to win one of the 84 medals awarded during the games.
