Sydney 2000

The Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, in 2000, were declared the “best games ever”, by Juan Antonio Samaranch, then President of the International Olympic Committee.

The games hosted 10,651 athletes from 199 countries.

For the third consecutive time, the Israeli delegation won a medal.

This time it was Mikhail Klaganov, who won the bronze medal in the 500-meter kayak sprint, and he was the highlight alongside the commendable achievements of Konstantin Matusevich (fifth place in high jump) and Shani Kadmani and Anat Fabricant (fourth place in 470-class sailing).
