Peter Palchik was born on January 4, 1992, in Yalta, Crimea, Ukraine, and immigrated to Israel with his mother at the age of 9 months.

He grew up with his grandparents until the age of 7 in Israel, while and mother, went to the US for work.
Peter was taken to the judo hall for the first time by his grandfather after a doctor determined he needed sports activity due to congenital bone problems.

In 2015, Palchik decided, along with coach Oren Smadja, to move up to the under 100 kg weight category, but due to various injuries, he had his first good results only in 2018.
From that year on, Palchik achieved numerous impressive accomplishments, including medals at  The European championships and at prestigious Grand Slam tournaments.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Palchik won a team bronze medal, his first Olympic medal.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Palchik won the individual bronze medal in the under 100 kg weight category. He came to the competition ranked 11th in the world.

In the first round, he won by ippon against Gonchigsuren Batkhuyag from Mongolia. In the round of 16, he defeated the French judoka Aurélien Dias after a very long battle lasting over 9 minutes.
In the quarterfinals, Palchik lost to Azerbaijani Zelim Kotsoev ina wazari.

After winning by ippon against Dutch Michael Korrel, Palchik advanced to the bronze medal match, where he defeated Daniel Eich from Switzerland.

Palchik embraced his coach Oren Smadja in tears after winning the bronze medal. Smadja had lost his son Omer Smadja, may he rest in peace, in the “Iron Swords” war just weeks before the Games in Paris.

At the opening ceremony of the games, Palchik carried the Israeli flag alongside veteran swimmer Andy Morez.
