The Paris 2024 Olympic Games took place from July 26 to August 11 and were the 33rd edition of the Olympics (30 in total).
The International Olympic Committee chose the city of Paris as the host of the games at its 131st session in Lima, Peru in 2017.
The French city hosted the games for the third time in its history, 100 years after the last time it hosted them in 1924.
For the first time in the history of the Olympic movement, the games achieved full gender equality between male and female athletes.

In the sailing category, Tom Reuveny won a gold medal in the windsurfing competition, twenty years after his coach Gal Friedman won the gold medal at the Athens Olympics (2004); Sharon Kantor won a silver medal in the windsurfing competition; Inbar Lanir and Raz Hershko each won a silver medal in judo, matching the record achievement of Yael Arad from the Barcelona Olympics (1992); Artem Dolgopyat won a silver medal in the floor exercise in artistic gymnastics; the Israeli rhythmic gymnastics team won a silver medal in the group all-around, and Peter Paltchik won a bronze medal in judo.
This is the first time that the Israeli delegation has won a medal in each of the top three places during a single Olympics.
