Our Olympic athletes routinely train with the children of the Sports Center for Children and Youth at Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba.
The Meir Medical Center has been the official medical partner of the Olympic athletes for 25 years, and among other things, in cooperation with the Olympic Committee, it holds sporting and educational encounters between current and former Olympic athletes and the children of the center.
Today, a duo of Israeli Beach Volleyball players arrived at the Meir Sports Center.
Beach volleyball is one of the variations of the regular volleyball game. In beach volleyball, usually two players play on each team, and most of the game rules are similar to the rules of volleyball. Beach volleyball players play barefoot on a sand surface.
The first beach volleyball game was played in 1920 in California, USA. From there, the game arrived in Europe and then spread around the world. In the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, the game was introduced to the program of the Olympic Games.
The Israeli “Blue and White” duo, who came to train with the children at the Meir Center, hopes to participate in the Olympic Games that will be held in Los Angeles in 2028.
The two Israeli beach volleyball players are:
Tamir Hershko – 32 years old from Tel Aviv. He has been playing beach volleyball since 2024. Before that, he played indoor volleyball for 15 years. He played in Italy, Finland, and the USA, and was also the captain of the Israeli national team. His favorite exercise in the gym is the squat, and he loves electronic music. His dream is to reach the Olympic Games.
David Lanciano – 23 years old from Ra’anana. He was born in Milan, Italy, and made Aliyah (immigrated to Israel) at the age of ten. David always loved sports. He tried swimming, tennis, basketball, and especially football until the age of 16. One day he was at the beach with friends, and a beach volleyball coach saw that he was tall and invited him to a trial practice. From the first moment, David fell in love with it. He has won two silver medals at the Israeli Championship, won a silver medal at the Maccabiah Games, and reached a peak ranking of 81st in the world. He is currently an athlete on the Israeli national team and also a student at the Technion, where he is studying Aeronautical and Space Engineering.
