During December, a unique workshop in the Olympic spirit was held across two Olympic associations – Athletics and Swimming – providing young athletes with an opportunity to pause their routine of training and competitions and reflect on their sporting journey from a broader and more meaningful perspective.
The “Behind the Rings” workshop allows participants to step away from the daily focus on the professional and technical aspects of their discipline and delve deeper into the values and ideas that form the foundation of the Olympic Movement.
During the sessions, the athletes were introduced to core content areas such as Fair Play, Anti-Doping, Safeguarding in Sport, and the legacy of the 1972 Munich 11 victims, while connecting these topics to the values of responsibility, respect, and excellence.
The workshops were led by senior athletes from the same disciplines, creating an intergenerational connection that strengthened the sense of continuity, inspiration, and belonging to the Olympic community.
In Athletics, the workshop was led by: Arie Gamliel, Rogel Nachum, Itay Megidi, Maor Tiyouri, and Girma Amare.
In Swimming, the workshop was led by: Ania Gostamelsky, Yaakov Tomarkin, Imri Ganiel, Keren Siebner, and Matan Roditi.
