Inbar Lanir grew up in Yehud. She trained as a child in various sports, including floor gymnastics and ballet. Lanir began practicing judo at the age of 6 at the “Hapoel Judo Yehud” Club, and at the age of 17, moved to the “Mitav Netanya” Club under the management of Shani Hershko, her coach to this day, both personally and in the Israeli national team.
At the Tokyo 2020
Olympic Games, Lanir won a team bronze medal, her first Olympic medal, but 2021 was her year of serious breakthrough at the international level.
She won the 2023 World Championship held in Qatar, taking the gold medal and becoming the third Israeli judoka to win the world title.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lanir won the silver medal in the individual under 78 kg weight class.
She arrived at the Games ranked 3rd in the world and began the competition in the second round, where she won by ippon against Khoslen Otgonbaatar of Mongolia.
In the quarterfinals, Lanir defeated Dutch Hoshi Steinhauss in just 24 seconds, thanks to a submission hold that forced her opponent to give up. In the semi-finals, she won by ippon against Anna Maria Wagner of Germany thanks to an ura-nage technique.
In the final, Lanir lost to the world number one, Italian Alice Bellandi, by Wazari.
