Andre Spitzer was born in Romania and was a fencer joining Maccabi Ramat Gan after immigrating to Israel. He went on to study fencing at the master school in the Netherlands and although he was offered an opportunity to remain there, Spitzer opted to return to Israel. He taught the fencing training course at the Wingate Institute and was appointed the fencing coach of the national team. Andre Spitzer was 27 years old at the time of his death and left behind a wife and daughter. He is buried at the Kiryat Shaul cemetery.
