Shahar Tzuberi grew up in Eilat and began to surf at the age of 7 just like his father and sister. When his talent was discovered at an early age, he trained even harder and in 2000 he won a silver medal at the youth World Championships.
In 2002, he won the Under-17 World Championships and in 2004 he captured the silver medal at the Youth World Championships that took place in Bulgaria. Everyone saw his potential and that Israel had a budding star on its hands. But it was also clear that despite his small size, he would be able to handle the strongest winds that would make it tough for him to compete due to his drive. A drive that also occasionally gave him issues with controversial actions or statements.
However, one thing has never been disputed, that Tzuberi was built to be an Olympic Champion.
At the 2008 Beijing Games, Tzuberi won a bronze and was Israel’s sole medalist that year.

2013 – Silver Medal – European Championships, France. Gold Medal – World Cup, China. 7th place World Championships, Silver Medal European Championships, France.

2012 – 9th place – World Championships, Cadiz. Gold Medal – World Cup, Netherlands.

In the 2012 London games he finished in 19th place and carried the Israeli flag at the opening ceremony.
